What are alternative proteins, and how does that differ from one culture to the next? Understanding the opportunity in alternative proteins requires seeing it as more than a piece of meat at the centre of the plate. Alternative protein innovation has existed for thousands of years in diverse cultures around the world. This talk will explore how the modern alt protein movement can learn from the challenges and successes of past alt protein innovations, and the opportunities for young people to participate in mainstream food systems change.
